When I was using a Nikon D800E, I needed to shoot at ISO 5000 or 4000 for star stacking to avoid the magenta noise problem. DEALING WITH HOT PIXELS Hot pixels are the bane of night photographers. They happen excessively with long-exposure, high-ISO photos. The easiest but often most time-consuming way to get rid of them is to use Long Exposure Noise Reduction (dark frame subtraction) in your camera. This setting causes the camera to take another exposure at the exact same settings as the actual exposure but with the shutter closed, and then use that “dark frame” to map out the hot pixels in the actual exposure before writing out the ile.
Achieving a greater depth of ield is challenging, and the closer you get to the subject, the harder it becomes. To correct this, adjust your aperture. Typically, in natural light, I shoot with an aperture setting of ƒ/5 to ƒ/11. By making the aperture smaller, you block out more of the blurred light, creating greater depth of ield. Unfortunately, some of the focused light is also blocked, causing your photos to grow darker. To counteract this darkening, you will need to increase the amount of light getting into your camera.

And because a brighter pixel contains more image-forming data than a darker pixel, some folks suggest this “Expose To The Right” method as a way of maximizing detail in an image ile.
